Day 6

Today I was lucky. I did not have to wake up at 3:00, but I did wake up at 6:00. I woke up and dad said come on we have to go now, I was so tired but I got up. We rushed to get a taxi to take us to the air port the taxi came but it was a pickup truck so we jumped in the back and we were off. The plane came and we got on and flew off the dirt runway. The pilot said we were over loaded so I had to sit in the back of the plane with dad. Luckily dad got his GPS out and we looked at it for the whole flight, checking our height and speed, the plane was unpresurized so we flew low. When we arrived at La Ceiba we said good bye to are friends because they were going home a different way and we had to go to a meeting. Finally we were out of the meeting. After that we went to a very nice hotel for lunch and I swam in there huge pool, it even had a bridge and I also swam in the sea that was very warm. And we jumped on the next plane and we were off.

Day 5

Today was a pretty good day. We had to wake up at 6:00 to get on a boat to get to Tmtumtara, sadly we had no breakfast. After the hour and a half boat trip we arrived in a village and the first thing we saw was the kindergarten. We went in and took pictures and printed them out for them to keep, they loved it. Then we got to dads meetings were I was the photographer and took tons of pictures. Finally we ate at a house for lunch it was amazing the food was delicious. Finally I took pictures of the middle school and printed them; the kids followed me all over the place. Finally we had to go when we left the waves were huge and I nearly fell out of the boat. We got back late and safe – thanks to the expert driving by Efrain.

Day 4

I spent the morning videoing my dad talking with the Mosquitia people. In the afternoon I was shown around the town by Gillian who spoke no English, dad did not tell me. We leave early in the morning to travel by boat to Tumtumtara Island. This time they have life jackets on the boat. I went on to the dock it was about quarter of a mile long and most of the boards were gone.

We went to dinner in the evening, the dinner took two hours to cook, the hotel although fine is very basic, the air conditioning does not work till very late, then the power goes off. There are soldiers everywhere, but I feell very safe. Especially with Efrain and Osvaldo looking after us.

Day 2

Today was fun I think it was the best yet. In the morning dad had two meetings with the Indigenous people and the Honduran Government and I listened with dad. Then the second meeting I went to a park with a lady called Jessie who was learning to speak English and I helped her. In the park we looked at some Mayan Ruins and then went to the zoo. At the zoo we saw lots to animals and I saw a baby monkey. Then finally we had to go and we went to the air port where we waited for the plane. At the airport there were lots of old WW2 planes. When it came I saw it was a eighteen seater we got on it and it took of. It landed shortly after at a small air port, were I saw lots of fighter planes. Finally we got to the hotel and went swimming in the pool. We then went to eat, where we had fish soup and local shrimp. We have to get up in the morning at 3.30am to catch a plane to Peurto Lempira, where we will meet with the local people and then go into the jungle.

Day 2 in Honduras

Today I woke up at three O’clock in the morning to catch our plane that left at 6:15. We eventually landed landed Tegucigalpa the capital of Honduras, it was very bumpy and the mountains were close by either side, when we landed all the passengers clapped and shouted thank you. It took half an hour to get through customs and finally we got out of the air port to wait for Osvaldo, sadly he did not come, as there was traffic jams. We had to take a taxi to hotel and we met him there. Then finally we ate at a restaurant across the street from the hotel.

After lunch we went to Osvaldo’s office so that Dad could talk business and plan the journey into the jungle. I was invited to go to the bank, this was very exciting, in the bank there were so many security guards with lots of big guns. Even the MacDonalds restaurant was guarded with guards with machine guns. We are going to eat tonight, yet to be safe we will just go across the street, it is not really dangerous, just need to take care. I also
